Expat Communities in Kobe

There are various members clubs or groups for foreigners to meet up in Japan. Many foreigners participate actively in such communities to make friends, exchange information about living in Japan, and for the opportunities to attend parties or volunteer activities.

  • THE KOBE CLUB

    The Kobe Club is a non-profit, private membership club serving Kansai’s international community. Featuring fine dining and a wide range of events and activities, it is a center of social, cultural and family life for the transient and long-term expatriate as well as the internationally minded local resident.

  • COMMUNITY HOUSE AND INFORMATION CENTRE (CHIC)

    CHIC assists foreigners with information about living in Japan, and organizes activities which enrich life in Japan.  The activities include classes, outings and social events.  Registering at CHIC enables every member to receive a newsletter each term with details of their program.

  • Kobe International Center for cooperation and communication (KICC)

    KICC offers information on municipal administration and daily life in the Kobe area, for the purpose of promoting communication between the citizens of Kobe and foreign residents. There is an information counter available to the foreign community, as well as volunteer activities for international exchange.

  • Kobe Women’s Club

    Kobe Women’s Club offers members an opportunity to share many diverse cultural experiences while living in Japan, and to study subjects of interest with other progressive women from all over the world.

  • James Yama Shioya Country Club

    The Club is a private international club which serves as the focal point of the community for both the residents of Shioya and Paramount Rokko.
    The Club has a restaurant and bar as well as a multipurpose hall, meeting rooms, kid's room and fitness room.
    There are a wide range of classes offered as part of the social program, ranging from karate, yoga and ballet, to an appreciation of Japanese culture through learning flower arrangement and calligraphy.

  • KOBE REGATTA & ATHLETIC CLUB (KRAC)

    For over 140 years the KR&AC has served as an oasis for the international community in Kansai, offering its members a range of sporting and social activities.
    Members come together in the Clubhouse and its generous surroundings. The Clubhouse has two bars and a restaurant, an indoor sports hall, event space, a children's room and meeting rooms. There are tennis courts, full-sized football field, beer garden, children's play area and members' car park.

    The KCA is an organization based in the Kansai area of Japan (Osaka and surrounding prefectures) for people interested in things Canadian welcoming all nationalities to its membership.
