Expat Communities in Hiroshima

There are various members clubs or groups for foreigners to meet up in Japan. Many foreigners participate actively in such communities to make friends, exchange information about living in Japan, and for the opportunities to attend parties or volunteer activities.

Here we introduce the major communities for foreign expats in Hiroshima-city.

Foreigner's Communities in Hiroshima

Hiroshima International Plaza (HIP)

Hiroshima International Plaza (HIP) is a complex facility, which is constructed in 1997 in Higashi-Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture, housing both the Hiroshima International Cooperation Center and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Chugoku International Center. It offers training programs for trainees from foreign countries to obtain necessary skills and learn Japanese language and Japanese culture, as well as international training programs for corporate staff members, and support for non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

Hiroshima International Center (HIC)

It is an administrative operation organization of Hiroshima International Plaza (HIP). It is a public-service corporation established jointly by private companies and local agencies in Hiroshima Prefecture, with the purpose of promoting a wide variety of international exchange and cooperation efforts. It offers multi-language consultation services and Japanese language classes for foreign residents.

Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation, International Relations and Cooperation Division

It is a public interest foundation for administrative operation of Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. Its division offers information service to promote international exchange and cooperation as well as provide various services such as a multilingual information, consultation, and interpreting as well as Japanese classes for foreign residents.

Hiroshima Canada Association (HCA)

The Hiroshima Canada Association was established in July 1988 for promoting friendship and goodwill at the grassroots level. It holds various events throughout a year to deepen friendship with the people of Canada and introduce Canadian culture and cooperates with Canadian Embassy as well as sends goodwill missions to Canada and accepts Canadian visitors for homestay programs through a sister-city relationship programs with Montreal.

The Hiroshima Filipino Association

It is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization established in 2008 based in Hiroshima City aimed at helping improve the quality of lives of Filipinos in Hiroshima Prefecture. Because it receives no regular funding, it holds various fund-raising events to support its projects and always welcomes helps from members and friends.
