Delivered Food to 40 Financially Struggling Households in Minato-ku

Post date: Friday, March 1, 2024

On February 16th, we delivered food to 40 needy households in the Minato Ward.

This month, through the Tanakanawa Food Pantry, we were able to deliver food to families in need in the Minato Ward once again.

Previously, many of the food items were brought in by employees, but thankfully, we have seen a gradual increase in donations from people who found us through our website, foreigners who searched online, and local residents who saw our storefront sign.

We would like to express our gratitude to those who donated food.

The donated food items, including protein-rich canned mackerel, retort curry, and easily portioned snacks, were all greatly appreciated. Among them, there were many items that someone went out of their way to purchase, adding to the heartwarming generosity.

Staple food items such as rice, pasta, udon, soba, and retort rice are particularly invaluable. Currently, we have been able to provide an average of 2 kilograms of rice per household, but the situation remains far from adequate.

Minato Ward is considered an affluent area, and many may believe that there are no people facing food insecurity. However, in reality, there are numerous individuals grappling with various challenges, preventing them from having a satisfying meal.

If you have excess food that cannot be consumed or are considering replenishing emergency supplies, we kindly request you to reach out to us. We will ensure that the donated items are delivered to appropriate recipients, including struggling families in Minato Ward, homeless support organizations, refugee assistance groups, and others in need within the local community.
