Expat Communities in Sapporo

There are various members clubs or groups for foreigners to meet up in Japan. Many foreigners participate actively in such communities to make friends, exchange information about living in Japan, and for the opportunities to attend parties or volunteer activities.

Sapporo International Communication Plaza Foundation International Community Bureau

Sapporo International Communication Plaza Foundation manages wide variety of activities for promotion of international exchange and understanding among the city residents as well as for improvement in living standards among foreign residents in the city. The activities include providing various living information services, holding seminars and events, and managing the registration system to invite host families for foreign students and volunteer interpreters and teachers of foreign languages.

Sapporo American Center

The Sapporo American Center (SAC) is part of the Public Affairs Section of the American Consulate General Sapporo. It promotes U.S.-Japan friendship and mutual understanding acting as an information resource focusing on U.S. society, economy, foreign and domestic policy, and culture.

The America-Japan Society of Hokkaido (AJSH)

It is established for the purpose of fostering exchange between Japan and the United States in the fields of economics, business, culture, education, science, and others; expanding circles of mutual understanding and friendship; which goes beyond national borders.

Hokkaido Canada Society

The Hokkaido Canada Society was established to deepen understanding and further promote exchanges between Hokkaido and Canada.

Hokkaido Thailand Club

It is acting not only for supporting Thai people who live in Hokkaido but also for promoting mutual understanding and friendship with Japanese people, ultimately hoping that Hokkaido would be more comfortable place for Thai people to live in.
