Expat Communities in Nagoya

There are various members clubs or groups for foreigners to meet up in Japan. Many foreigners participate actively in such communities to make friends, exchange information about living in Japan, and for the opportunities to attend parties or volunteer activities.

NIC Nagoya International Center

The Nagoya International Center is a non-profit organization based in Nagoya, Japan, which was established in 1984 by City of Nagoya. The NIC promotes multi-cultural harmony and provides free information and consultation services for foreign residents in 8 languages, including Japanese.

Aichi International Plaza

It provides the foreign residents in Aichi Prefecture with multilingual consultation services for their everyday life, and also provides information on international exchange. It has the library section with various books and foreign magazines in the facility and also holds Japanese language class regularly.

Tokai Japan Canada Society

The TJCS is a nonprofit organization that creates opportunities for its members to develop greater social, cultural and commercial relations with Canadian people living in the region. Through periodic functions and events, the TJCS aims to create a greater sense of community among Canadians and to help foster increased relations between Canadians and Japanese, as well as other foreign nationals living in the Tokai region.

Santa & Friends Nagoya (SFN)

Santa & Friends Nagoya is an informal group of Japanese and foreign ex-pats who yearly arrange gift giving Christmas parties for Nagoya City Based orphanages.

The Chubu Walkathon and International Charity Festival

It is a charity event organized by the international community in Central Japan. The annual event started in 1991 in Nagoya, Japan by members of the then American Business Community of Nagoya (ABCN) . It has continued annually and is today organized by The American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ) Chubu Chapter and Nagoya International School (NIS).

ACCJ (The American Chamber of Commerce in Japan) Chubu Chapter

It is the local chapter of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ) which plays a role as the hub for Nagoya business among the American and greater international community.  The membership of the ACCJ-Chubu includes some of the most innovative in Nagoya business with roughly 50% entrepreneurs. Aerospace, automotive, and heavy industry are well-represented among the nearly 150 members.

Chubu Philippines Friendship Association (CPFA)

A volunteer group mainly for Filipinos living in the Chubu Area, which was created in 1981 as the Association of Intermarried Couples, and later changed in 1984 as the present name. It fosters cooperation and networking between Filipinos and Japanese. However, it also welcomes the help and support from all nationalities.
